Alfred Fonoti-Fuimaono, a Samoan baritone found his passion for opera through Project Prima Volta. Born in Flaxmere, Hastings, he completed his musical education at the University of Waikato before advancing to The Aotearoa New Zealand Opera Studio (TANZOS) with a Masters in Advanced Opera Studies as Sir William and Lady Judi Scholarship Artist at the same university.

With a nationwide remit, Alfred has been involved with Festival Opera, New Zealand Opera and The University of Waikato Conservatorium of Music and has performed in concert as a soloist. Most recently, in early 2024 he won the Napier Aria competition. He was a previous winner of the Dunedin Performing Arts Society Aria Competition Aria, the Dame Malvina Major Foundation Waikato Aria Competition and was a finalist in the Joan Sutherland Richard Bonynge Bel Canto Aria Competition in 2023, winning the Stimme Leib and Seele Scholarship Prize.

He is part of the touring quartet “ALOFA” with his three younger brothers. Alfred dreams of performing on international stages and giving back to his community, hoping to one day share the stage with his brothers worldwide.
